HC Deb 21 November 1917 vol 99 cc1194-5W
Mr. KENNEDY

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food whether traders and grocers in Ireland are to be compensated for the loss they will sustain by reason of the 4s. maximum price fixed for tea; if he is aware that many of the traders in Cavan have themselves paid 4s. to 5s. per lb. for their tea; and if he will, in the event of not granting compensation, extend the time for disposing of the tea purchased by them at the prices above stated?

Mr. CLYNES

The Food Control Committee for Ireland have made arrangements by which the class of controlled tea known as C. grade tea may be mixed with the high cost teas referred to in the question for the purpose of enabling traders and grocers in Ireland to dispose of those high cost teas without loss.
