HC Deb 12 November 1917 vol 99 c45W
Mr. R. MACDONALD

asked the Under- secretary of State for War whether he has now completed his inquiries regarding the circumstances under which Private R. Wareham, of the Machine Gun Corps, was sent to France, although his commanding officer had a certificate showing that Wareham was only seventeen years of age; and what action he proposes to take both as regards Wareham and the commanding officer in question?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I have recently been in communication with my hon. Friend and have fully explained this case to him. Steps have been taken to retain Private Wareham on home service till he attains nineteen years of age, but in the circumstances it is not proposed to take any action with regard to the commanding officer.
