§ Mr. GLANVILLEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War (1) whether a sergeant who finds he has been reduced to the ranks without his knowledge is entitled to demand a court-martial or other inquiry if he has failed to get any explanation: from his company officer; and (2) whether, 49W when a non-commissioned officer is stated, in spite of his denial, to have reverted to the ranks at his own request, it is possible to ascertain if any written application of his to that effect exists?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONMy hon. Friend may be contemplating summary reduction under the provisions of Section 183 (2) of the Army Act, in which event the question of court-martial or other inquiry would not arise. If, however, he will give me details of the case he has in mind, I will inquire into it.
