HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 92 cc42-3W
Mr. HAYDN JONES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether Civil servants attached to one Department when transferred to another Department receive salaries in respect of both positions; and, if so, whether he will publish a Return of such cases, together with the salaries paid?

Mr. BONAR LAW

No, Sir; Civil servants transferred from one Department to another normally receive only the salary of their permanent posts. Only when the transferred officer is charged with greatly increased responsibilities is an allowance occasionally given in respect of them in addition to the ordinary salary. Details of all allowances exceeding £25 per annum will be found in the Appropriation Accounts.
