HC Deb 25 June 1917 vol 95 c45W
Mr. MILLAR

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether any spirit or rum rations are issued on vessels belonging to the American Navy?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The only information the Admiralty has is that on 1st July, 1914, the following General Order was promulgated to the United States NavyThe use or introduction for drinking purposes of alcoholic liquors on board any Naval vessel, or within any Naval Yard or Station, is strictly prohibited, and Commanding Officers will be held directly responsible for the enforcement of this order.
