HC Deb 05 July 1917 vol 95 c1304W
Mr. BUTCHER

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government will take steps to ensure that when a sailor or soldier has performed an action of great gallantry, which would, if he had lived, have entitled him to receive a naval or military distinction, such distinction shall be awarded posthumously, in the same way as is done with regard to the Victoria Cross?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I would refer my hon. and learned Friend to the answers given to somewhat similar questions on the 20th December, 1915, and 25th October, 1918, to the hon. Members for Devizes and Waterford and to my hon. and learned Friend on the 2nd August, 1916, to which I have nothing to add.
