HC Deb 15 February 1917 vol 90 c825W
Mr. ROWNTREE

asked the hon. Member for Wilton, as representing the Food Controller, whether, in view of the fact that the Food Controller has issued Orders preventing manufacturing confectioners in this country using in 1917 more than 50 per cent, of the sugar they used in 1915, he is restricting the import of chocolate and confectionery containing sugar by the same amount; and, if so, on what date the restriction of imports came into force?

Captain BATHURST

This question must be dealt with as part of the general question of the allocation of tonnage rather than by a special Order. I cannot say more at the present time than that the point which my hon. Friend raises has not been overlooked.
