HC Deb 26 April 1917 vol 92 c2603W
Mr. M'KEAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland why, or under what authority, Thomas Brennan, a native of county Monaghan, Ireland, who left Liverpool in August, 1915, to carry on a business concern that he had purchased in Ballybay, has been notified by the military authorities at Seaforth to report himself there with a view to military service, presumably under the Act passed into law several months after Brennan had returned to reside permanently in his native country; whether he is aware that he has been giving effective aid to his uncle, John Brennan, an aged man, who owns 30 acres at Cornacrew and who otherwise is without farm labourers; and whether, under these circumstances, the notice above referred to will be withdrawn?

Mr. MACPHERSON

Inquiries are being made, and I will inform the hon. Member of the result.
