HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 cc2411-2W
Mr. BYRNE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland when the rebellion victims' dependants may expect to be paid the compensation awarded to them two months ago; and what is the cause of the delay?

Mr. DUKE

I am informed that there has been no avoidable delay in the payment of approved awards to dependants of persons killed in the rebellion. In cases -of awards for the benefit of widows and minors it has sometimes been necessary to apportion the sums approved between the parties concerned and to arrange for lodgment in Court of the shares of minors. Speaking generally, payment has followed within a short time of the award.

Mr. T. M. HEALY

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether, as a year has elapsed since the shooting of Messrs. Dickson and M'Intyre (along with Mr. S. Skeffington), something will be done for the families of these two men who are in poor circumstances?

Mr. DUKE

The Report of the Rebellion (Victims) Committee on the claims made on behalf of the dependants of Messrs. Dickson and M'Intyre is at present under consideration.
