HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 cc2418-9W
Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he signed an order of deportation to France in respect of M. Joanny Justin Boquet, a French subject resident for ten years in this country; whether such order was made at the request of the French Government; is M. Boquet known to be connected with any political organisation; and how is it that such order was signed by the Secretary of State for India?

Mr. BRACE

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The answer to the first and second parts of the question is in the affirmative; to the third in the negative. As regards the fourth point, it has been arranged that during the illness of the Home Secretary the Secretary of State for India should exercise his statutory powers on his behalf.
