HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 c1855W
Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War what is the War Office estimate of the number of young men who would be available for the Army if the Military Service Act were applied to Ireland; and how many of these men are expected to enlist voluntarily towards the 500,000 which Sir William Robertson states are required before July?

Mr. MACPHERSON

I am afraid that the two parts of my hon. Friend's question are based on hypotheses, and any attempted answer would be unsatisfactory.
