HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 cc1843-4W
Mr. NIELD

asked the hon. Member for Worcestershire (Bewdlcy Division) whether, in view of the rearrangement of exemptions to Income Tax and the lowering of the taxable limit, as well as in view of the cost of living, there is any probability of a scheme being formulated in the near future to substantially increase the salaries of the lower classification of Civil servants, particularly those whose salaries are under £150 per annum?

Mr. BALDWIN

The claim of the less highly paid classes of Civil servants to an increased war bonus is at present under the consideration of the Conciliation and Arbitration Board.
