§ Mr. R. MCNEILLasked the Home Secretary whether he has power to issue a Regulation under the Defence of the Realm Act to require naturalised Germans, Austrians, and Hungarians who have changed their surnames since the outbreak of war to use their real and original names exclusively for all business, purposes; and, if so, whether he will issue such a Regulation without delay?
Mr. SAMUELThe Regulations under the Defence of the Realm Act are made by His Majesty in Council, and I am advised that such a Regulation as is suggested by the hon. Member would not be within the powers given by that Act.
