§ Mr. R. McNEILLasked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the position of a firm of brewers in the county of Kent under Section 2 of the Output of Beer (Restriction) Act, 1916, who, having previously brewed at two breweries, on 31st December, 1914, closed down one of those breweries, and who, having given notice to the Commissioners of Customs and Excise of their desire to exercise their option to take the year ended 30th September, 1914, and restrict their output under the Act to 30 per cent. below their barrelage of that year, have now been informed by the Commissioners that they will not be allowed to include the barrelage of the closed brewery; and, if so, whether he will say on what grounds the Commissioners base their ruling, which has the effect of depriving this firm of the relief given to other brewers by the Section?
