Mr. NUGENTasked the Secretary for Scotland whether he has received a petition from the National Council of the Scottish Catholic Teachers' Federation setting forth the claims of the Catholic teachers' profession of Scotland for a bonus on present salaries; and whether he can see his way to recommend the Treasury to give favourable consideration to the claim made on behalf of these Catholic teachers?
§ Mr. TENNANTI have received the petition referred to and am now in communication with the Treasury on the subject. As I stated in the House on Tuesday, the case of teachers in denominational schools is under consideration as well as that of teachers in public schools.
