HC Deb 21 November 1916 vol 87 c1233W
Mr. BILLING

asked the Secretary of State for War, how many accidents, fatal or otherwise, have occurred during the last twelve months from the premature explosion of hand grenades in the hands of officers; and whether the victims of these accidents, the cause of which might frequently be traced back to graft during one or other of the stages of manufacture, are awarded compensation on a lower scale than if similar injuries had been inflicted by enemy grenades?

Mr. FORSTER

I am unable to give the figures asked for in the first part of the question, though as far as I can ascertain the number is small. The reply to the remainder is in the negative.
