§ Commander BELLAIRSasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in order to bring a publicity campaign to bear on the failure to clear cargoes with proper speed in certain ports, he will cause comparative figures to be made public as soon as possible; and whether he will now obtain from the Great Eastern Railway Company and state to the House the comparative figures as to the time taken to clear similar cargoes at Parkstone Quay and Tilbury, respectively, from the time a vessel is berthed to the time she is cleared of cargo?
Mr. RUNCIMANThe question of expediting the clearance of cargoes at the various ports is engaging the constant attention of the Port and Transit Executive Committee, which was specially appointed for this purpose last year, and any complaints should be addressed to that Committee. As regards the latter part of the question, I understand that Park-stone Quay has been closed to general traffic for over a year.
