§ Mr. ASHLEYasked the Secretary of State for War how many German military officers and men have been taken prisoners by us; and how many of ours have been captured by the Germans?
§ Mr. FORSTERI stated on the 18th July, in reply to the hon. Member for Bethnal Green, that the number of German combatant prisoners taken by His Majesty's forces was 21,535, of whom 458 are officers, but that those numbers did not include the prisoners reported as having been captured in the recent communiqué s of Sir D. Haig. The number of British officers and soldiers remaining in the hands of the Germans, after those repatriated, transferred to Switzerland, etc., have been deducted, is 25,350, of which 721 are officers.
