§ Mr. HASLAM
asked the Secretary of State for War whether the question of providing soldiers at the front with shields to protect the more vital parts of the body 1028W has been considered; if so, what decision has been arrived at; whether shields are now being used, especially among the Australian troops; and whether the steel helmets now supplied are satisfactory in all respects?
§ Mr. FORSTER
The question of providing body shields is under consideration, but a report from the Commander-in-Chief is awaited before a decision can be taken. From the reports received the steel helmets appear to be satisfactory.
