HC Deb 18 December 1916 vol 88 cc1127-8W
Brigadier-General CROFT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he will consider the possibility of giving extended leave to all members of the original Expeditionary Force, and, if possible, to any men who fought in 1914 and who have served continuously in France since that year?

Mr. MACPHERSON

No, Sir; I cannot undertake that the Commander-in-Chief will give leave on the principle suggested. Various divisions and units followed one another to France at short intervals, and it is not feasible to make participation in fighting in the year 1914 the basis of special privileges in the matter of leave.
