HC Deb 04 December 1916 vol 88 c679W
Mr. LARDNER

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Customs and Excise officer, at Monaghan, had the authority of the Board of Customs and Excise or of the local pensions committee in demanding from the clerk of the Monaghan union the pension order books beloging to William Hall, Elizabeth Hughes, George Stockdale, Mary McEvoy, Ellen Murray, and Ellen McNeill; and when and by whom the pensions of these persons were cancelled, as stated in the Excise officer's letter?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The old age pensions in question were revoked on 30th October last by the local pension subcommittee. As the ex-pensioners are no longer entitled to the pensions the pension officer, under his instructions, was required to obtain the pension books, which are the property of the Crown, and they must be returned to him at once.
