HC Deb 04 December 1916 vol 88 cc672-3W
Mr. MacCALLUM SCOTT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether the new booklet containing the consolidated Regulations for the issue of Army separation allowance, which is sold at the price of 1s., contains only 80 pages, whereas the Army Pay Warrant, which contains 412 pages and has a better binding, is sold at the price of 6d.; whether the separation allowance Regulations could be sold at a profit at the price of 3d.; whether he is aware that the price of 1s. prevents soldiers' dependants from learning what are the Regulations under which they draw their allowances and increases the work of War Office Departments; and whether he will have the Regulations put on sale at a smaller price?

Mr. FORSTER

The prices of these publications are not invariably fixed on the basis of the number of pages, though that is the normal basis. The price of the separation allowance Regulations will be further considered. Pamphlets containing particulars of the conditions of issue of separation allowance for wives and dependants can be obtained free of charge at any post office.
