DUNCANasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether it is intended to institute an inquiry into the question of the employment of women in the Civil Service; and whether such inquiry will be on the lines recommended by the Royal Commission on the Civil Service and by the special section within the Treasury recommended to be set up for the general supervision and control of the Civil Service?
Mr. McKINNON WOODSome preliminary inquiries have been addressed by the Treasury to the several Government Departments as to the number of women employed and the possibilities of further employment after the War. Until the replies have been received and considered I cannot say on what lines any further investigation will proceed.
