§ Mr. NIELDasked the Home Secretary whether he is now in a position to make a statement on the subject of the censorship and control of cinema films, which has for so long past been engaging his attention; and whether, in view of the mischief done to juvenile minds by the exhibition of a certain class of films, he will indicate at an early date when he will be able to make a full statement on the subject?
Mr. SAMUELThe result of my communications with the local licensing authorities has been to show that there will be very general support on their part for the scheme for establishing an official censorship of films, and progress is now being made with the necessary arrangements-for carrying it into effect.
