§ Mr. ELLIS GRIFFITHasked if any and what steps were taken in respect of the house-to-house canvass, made some months ago, as to those who were willing to serve in His Majesty's Forces, and how many were asked to join the Army as the result of such information; and whether married men were asked to join before a similar request was made to unmarried men?
§ Mr. TENNANTAs a result of the distribution of forms to householders by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee, about 300,000 names of men willing to be enlisted were submitted. All of these have been, or are, being asked to join. I cannot say whether unmarried men were applied to first. As I have said, all men who expressed themselves as willing have been called upon.
