§ Mr. BRIDGEMANasked the President of the Board of Trade if the owners of the steamship "Downshire," which was sunk by a German submarine on the 20th February, are to receive any financial assistance from the Government?
Mr. RUNCIMANAs the "Downshire" was not insured against war risks under the Government insurance scheme, it will not, I am afraid, be possible for the Government to entertain any claim in respect of the loss of the vessel.
