HC Deb 25 November 1914 vol 68 cc1142-3W
Mr. KEIR HARDIE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether, considering the amount of pay allowed the soldiers and the difficulty due to this in their raising train fares, he will arrange for their being carried free to their homes at least once a fortnight during their training period or residence in camp?

Mr. BAKER

The question of allowing a short furlough, with travelling facilities, is under consideration, but I cannot hold out any hope of a fortnightly holiday being arranged.
