§ Mr. FALLEasked the Secretary to the Admiralty if he can publish the Report of the Thursby Committee, especially as regards the ship stewards; and if there is any prospect of promotion in this class?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAIt is regretted that it has been found necessary to defer final consideration of the Report of the Committee until the War is over. I can give no undertaking in regard to the second part of the question, but I would remind the hon. Member that the warrant rank of head steward was instituted in 1910 and that ten of these officers are now serving; further, that the ships' steward class shared in the advances of pay given to the Royal Navy in 1912.
