HC Deb 26 March 1914 vol 60 c572W
Mr. DENNISS

asked the President of the Board of Education whether, in view of the fact that the Oldham Education Committee, whilst admitting that the salaries of its teachers are mostly insufficient, refuses to increase them on the ground that it is unable to do so by reason of the additional financial burdens laid on it, he will make such financial provision as will enable it to pay adequate salaries to its teaching staff?

Mr. PEASE

No representations appear to have been made to the Board by the local education authority on the subject. It is my hope that the reform in the system of Grants for elementary education contemplated in connection with forthcoming legislative proposals will bring material relief to local education, authorities.
