§ Mr. PATRICK MEEHANasked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) why the fair of Ballinakill, Queen's County, was prohibited, as Ballinakill is not in a scheduled area?
§ Mr. T. W. RUSSELLBallinakill is within the district which it was found necessary to schedule in connection with the distribution of Cork calves from Kilkenny. Diligent efforts for the tracing of these calves have been in progress, but are not yet completely successful. Restrictions are therefore still in operation in the district mentioned, and accordingly the holding of this fair is prohibited. The importance of fully tracing the movement of these calves is shown by the fact that within the past few days, in another locality, a fresh outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease has been confirmed. This outbreak has been found to be due to one of the calves referred to.
