§ Mr. KING
asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that in the recent Japanese naval contracts trials the four firms of Vickers and Com- 1580W pany, Messrs. Yarrows, Weirs and Company, and Arrol and Company, were alleged to have given bribes to obtain contracts, and the Court acted on the evidence to that effect; and whether, before any Admiralty contracts are given to any of these firms, the allegations 1581W against them will be considered in the light of a full report of the recent trial in Tokio?
§ Mr. CHURCHILL
The answer to both parts of the question is in the negative. I have nothing to add to the replies already given to the hon. Member by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
