§ Mr. JOYCEasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether his attention has been called to the fact that Mr. Michael Sheehan, of Limerick, who has been the tenant of King's Island at Limerick for about fifty years, has been served with notice to quit on the 29th of September next without any reason being given to him for this step being taken; whether further consideration will be given to the case with the view of withdrawing the notice, and, if this will not be done, whether the 1135W tenant will receive adequate compensation for disturbance owing to the fact that he has held those lands for such a long period of years?
§ Mr. TENNANTMr. Michael Sheehan has held a grazing tenancy for twenty-two years, and has, with a number of other grazing tenants in Ireland, received notice to terminate his tenancy next Michaelmas. The grazing letting will in future be put up for auction, and Mr. Sheehan will then have an opportunity of bidding. His tenancy has been from year to year only, and he is not entitled to compensation on termination of the agreement after due notice.
