§ The PRIME MINISTERSome assistance, mainly with regard to published' sources of information, was given to the author by the Committee of Imperial Defence in respect to one of the chapters of the work referred to. In order to avoid the possibility of the publication of confidential matter, and in accordance with the normal practice, the chapter in question was first submitted to the Committee of Imperial Defence, who must not, however, be held to be in any way responsible for the work.
