HC Deb 24 February 1914 vol 58 c1611W
Mr. JOHN EDWARD GORDON

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that there are about 42,000 residents in Hove; that telegraph facilities close in Hove offices at eight o'clock; and if the Department will arrange to keep one of them open until midnight?

Captain NORTON

The Hove post office is open for the dispatch of telegrams till 10 p.m. on week-days, and the Brighton post office, which is less than a mile and a half away, is always open except from midnight on Saturday till 7 a.m. on Sunday. The number of telegrams dealt with at Hove during the last hour of the present attendance is very small, and I do not think that any extension of the present hours is warranted.
