§ Mr. GIBBSasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any official reports of recent disturbances on the British East African frontier; and, if so, whether he is in a position to report that immediate steps have been taken for the adequate protection of settlers an the Nasin Gishu plateau?
Mr. HARCOURTYes, Sir, but they have occurred in districts remote from white settlement, and the necessary steps have been taken for dealing with them. The Nasin Gishu plateau lies at a very considerable distance from the frontier, and I have no reason to suppose that the settlers there are in any need of protection.
