HC Deb 04 August 1914 vol 65 c1916W
Mr. CASSEL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any, and, if so, what part of the sum of £250,000 which it is estimated will be received under Clause 5 of the Finance Bill represents Super-tax in respect of foreign investments?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

No part of the estimate of £250,000 represents Super-tax, inasmuch as assessments to that tax are required to be based upon the statutory income of the preceding year, which would not include any income brought into charge for the first time by Clause 5 of the Finance Bill.
