Ignatius O'Brien in Class VI. of the Supplementary Estimates; and why this sum was paid out of the Civil Contingencies Fund and is now being repaid to that fund?
§ Mr. MONTAGUThis sum, which appears to represent £1,000 Irish, is always paid to the Lord Chancellor of Ireland on first appointment as an outfit allowance. In the absence of a Vote, to which the 1797W payment could appropriately be charged, it is customary to advance the money from the Civil Contingencies Fund and to make provision to recoup the fund in the Annual Vote for repayments.
