§ Mr. NIELDasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in his consideration of the proceedings-in the case of the conviction of Sidney Butler, a chauffeur employed by the First Lord of the Admiralty, and particularly in relation to the alleged attempt of that personage to interfere with the course of justice, he applied to the magistrate or officials at Bow Street for a copy of any minutes of evidence or other official record before having recourse to the reports of daily papers in order to determine whether he should direct the Public Prosecutor to take action against the First Lord of the Admiralty?
§ Mr. McKENNAI have obtained a copy of the notes of evidence taken at Bow Street. No facts appear in them or have been brought to my notice that suggest in any way the desirability of communicating with the Director of Public Prosecutions in regard to this case.
