HC Deb 21 April 1914 vol 61 c770W
Mr. VINCENT KENNEDY

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will state whether, in the case of the late Anne Beglin, an evicted tenant on the Car michael estate, county Cavan, a Mr. Arthur M'Clean, who has possession of the farm, agreed in writing to surrender the same on receiving reasonable compensation; is he aware that M'Clean has recently again expressed his willingness to accept compensation; and, as it is the wish of the district that Bernard Kiernan should get his late aunt's holding in Aughterera, will he have an inspector sent to investigate the whole matter?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners have no knowledge of any agreement by the present occupier to surrender the former holding of Anne Boylan. The estate is not the subject of proceedings for sale before them under the Land Purchase Acts and they cannot take any action in the matter.
