§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELThere are no minor staff officers in the service of the Post Office. The total number of second division clerks who have been on the permanent establishment of the Department since 1st January, 1903, is 1,849, but the maximum number of second division clerkships authorised at any one time was 1,305. Ten second division clerks were promoted to posts which are recruited from the higher division examination. Particulars of their service and the increase in pay obtained on appointment are given below:—
