HC Deb 11 February 1913 vol 48 cc728-9W
Captain O'NEILL

asked the Chief Secretary how many tuberculosis dispensaries are now established in Ireland and where these are situated; also the number and names of districts that have adopted compulsory notification under the Tuberculosis Act?

Mr. BIRRELL

Tuberculosis dispensaries have been established by the Dublin Corporation in Dublin and by the Down County Council at Banbridge and Newtownards, and negotiations for the acquisition of sites are pending in a number of other counties. Part, I. of the Tuberculosis Prevention (Ireland) Act, 1908, which deals with compulsory notification of tuberculosis, has been adopted by twenty-two urban and twenty-eight rural sanitary authorities. The ńames of the districts which adopted this part of the Act up to the 31st March, 1912, are given on page 31 of the Annual Report of the Local Government Board for 1911–12, to which should be added the following rural districts: Dungannon, Clones No. 1, Carrickmacross, Croom, Naas No. 1, Celbridge No. 1, Edenderry No. 2, Rathdown No. 1, and Athy No. 1.
