§ Mr. T. W. RUSSELLThe Department have prepared notes for a Bill giving effect to most of the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on inland fisheries. This Bill I hope to introduce on the first suitable opportunity. The Department are aware that in late years there has been an increase of drift netting for salmon in the sea, and in certain districts they have made by-laws restricting this class of fishing off the mouths of rivers.
