§ Mr. FITZROYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that claims for Increment Value Duty are made on the difference between the sale price and the amount of the official valuation at the time without regard to the value of the site, he will consider the desirability of not proceeding further with the attempt to ascertain site values of land and of introducing legislation to that end?
§ Mr. LLOYD GEORGEThe values of a site as on the 30th April, 1909, and also on the date of the occasion are in every case the dominant factors in ascertaining whether any, and, if so, what increment value has accrued, and where the occasion is the passing on death of the property they are the sole criterion. It is accordingly quite impossible for me to entertain the hon. Member's suggestion.
