HC Deb 09 April 1913 vol 51 cc1189-90W
Mr. THOMAS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are the rates of contribution to the Customs and Excise Mutual Guarantee Fund of surveyors, late Customs clerks first class, officers late Excise principal clerks, second class, officers late Customs clerks, and officers late Excise clerks, respectively?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

The rate of contribution is determined by the officials of the fund.

Lord HENRY CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

asked the Chancellor whether he is aware that notices for Undeveloped Land Tax have been served on the allotment holders, the majority of whom are working men who have purchased their gardens, on what is known as the Porchester garden estate, at Nottingham; and whether, in view of the fact that in the last twenty-five years over £20,000 has been spent in road making, sewering, laying out water mains and top-water drains on the estate, and that this estate of 128 acres is divided into 832 lots of 700 yards each, he will say why claims have been made on the owners of these lots for Undeveloped Land Tax?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

The answer to he first part of the question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part, a form on which the owner might claim any exemption or allowance to which he is entitled was sent out with every notice of assessment, and all claims which may be received will be carefully considered.
