Mr. MONTAGUE BARLOWasked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the case of Alice Broughton, who was convicted on 18th February at the Manchester Assizes of throwing vitriol at another woman and sentenced to three years' penal servitude; whether he is aware that Alice Broughton has always borne an excellent character, and has worked hard during thirteen years of married life in order to bring up her children well and keep the home together; and, seeing that she acted under provocation, whether he will consider the case with a view to the remission of a portion of the sentence?
