HC Deb 24 October 1912 vol 42 c2399W
Mr. JOHN WARD

asked the President of the Board of Trade, whether the Advisory Committee who are considering the question of the current rates of wages at Rosyth are inviting evidence from contracting firms who have never worked in the Rosyth district; and, if so, can he state the reason for this extended inquiry into matters not properly within the matters referred for their consideration?

Mr. BUXTON

I am informed by the Chairman of the Committee that they are obtaining from various sources information likely to be of service to them in their inquiry. The procedure of the Committee is entirely a matter for them to determine. I may remind my hon. Friend that one of the questions referred to them is the meaning to be attached to the word "district" in the Fair-Wages Clause of the contract.
