HC Deb 21 October 1912 vol 42 c1756W
Viscount WOLMER

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, whether his attention has been called to the shortage of magistrates at the Warrington Petty Sessions; and whether it is intended to appoint any more justices of the peace for that bench?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

There are at present thirty-five magistrates upon the rota for Warrington, and there does not seem to be any need, therefore, of appointing new justices. Communications have reached me since the Noble Lord put down his question to the intent that new magistrates are in no way required. I may add that Petty Sessions are held daily, and an average of eleven magistrates are summoned daily.
