§ Mr. GRANTasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if it is within the jurisdiction of the Colonial Office to exercise certain control over appointments made by the local Government in British Central Africa; and, if appointments made by the local Government in British Central Africa were, in nature, antagonistic to the general policy of His Majesty's Government, would it be his duty to interfere?
§ Mr. GRANTasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will cause definite inquiry to be made whether or not appointments at the most healthy stations in British Central Africa are, for the most part, held by bachelors, and at other stations by married men with families?
Mr. HARCOURTI am unable to add to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member on the 13th of this month.
