HC Deb 11 November 1912 vol 43 c1757W
Sir REGINALD POLE-CAREW

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when the Foreign Office or the War Office last heard of Major Rhys Samson, British Military Consul at Adrianople; what instructions, if any, were given him with reference to his remaining at, or withdrawing from, Adrianople; and whether the Foreign Office will endeavour to secure some news of his present position as soon as possible?

Mr. ACLAND

The last Report received from Major Samson is one addressed to His Majesty's Ambassador at Constantinople on 25th October, and received by me on 7th November. Major Samson receives his instructions from Sir Gerard Lowther. So far as I am aware, no special instructions have been addressed to him in regard to remaining at his post, nor has Major Samson applied for any. I have no reason, therefore, to suppose that Major Samson is elswhere than at Adrianople.
