§ Mr. CLYNES
asked the Postmaster-General why the opportunity of transfer 1685W to the London postal service has been denied to Mr. Cox, an unestablished porter at Mount Pleasant depot, who has been favourably reported upon by independent medical authorities; and whether his slight deafness was caused while serving in the South African War?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL
Mr. Cox has been examined on no fewer than six separate occasions and by three members of the medical staff of the Post Office; and the reports have been uniformly adverse to his appointment to an established situation. I am not aware whether his deafness was caused while serving in the South African War?
